Dathanna de Gray Mirage by alteride Dathanna de Gray Mirage by alteride
:icondonotuseplz::iconmyartplz:

Damn this limited title-policy XP

Commission for :icongatekat:, G1 Mirage imported into an AU Bayverse. So a complete redesign of him, but keeping a few basics from G1.

Dathanna de Gray Mirage.

He's supposed to be all elegant grace -- designed to be a graceful, lithe, very attractive mech. Meant to catch optics and look good on someone's arm.

And my 1st take on a Bayformer :D

Alt mode is a concept car BMW Concept Vision Efficientdynamics www.lincah.com/2009-bmw-vision…

Thank you, that was what he was meant to feel like, indeed. Commissionner wanted him to have a noble-like look to go with his refined demaneor, and I opted to give him a vibe of 17th-century French Musketeer gentilshommesbrette.free.fr/IM…
Thank you for the new faves :)

I rather saw that car as "nightmare" when I looked at it and realized I had to make a TF out of it - 1st commish, 1st challenge ^^
Thank you ! Mirage being a noble-class bot in commissionner's universe, mech pose and weapons borrow to 17/18th century's nobles/musketeers to enhance his refined manners (the filigree being a nobility sign)

The car is really complex and does look like a nightmare to design a TF from lol! Can definitely tell a lot of though was put into it, esp with all the nobility touches :)

I do believe I have already commented on this...and yet I am compelled to do so again...horrid habit of mine:XD:

Have I mentioned this is amazing?
I adore how he looks very delicate and soft and its so easy to imagine him the the towers how :icongatekat: depicts them...and at the exact same time I can see the Ops Mech Jazz has made him into in order to be useful and survive. ^^; rambling slightly on the story...

And for good measure> I Just can't get past loving his heals, Its like with the Seekers, you just...have to love them:XD: Though the same should be said for (door)wings and winglets, they are far to distracting.
Would it be weird to say I've always wondered what it'd be like to have wings? Just because it's so unhuman...not sure what sort...or what for...just because...plus I think I'd have fun wiggling them and watching them over my shoulder:XD:....there is something seriously wrong with my brains connections.

He's just so pretty....and yet...scary and sad all at the same time...and then you go and manage to make him look proud on top of that, don't worry about bad colours-he looks stunning, all creamy and golden and then these flashes of blue!
He's Shine...which means I've been distracted by him probably long then I first thought.

You're very talented, I'm jealous, I can draw trees...nice trees...but so far, just trees...

~drowns under the compliment~ Yes you did, but hey, praise's always welcome.

Hehe I think girls love high heeled-mechs because of high heels so much being a part of feminine apparatus, so finding high heels on males gives them a feminine vibe that comforts girls around them. Just my opinion XD
Given my phobia of pheights I'm not yearning to have wings. I like to feel my two feet standing on Earth. But Ithink if humans were to have wings a whole new body language would come along... Just like birds. How you raise/lower them could tell if you're happy or sad, that you open them slightly or tighten them around yourself... I see it that way with winged TFs at least - off topic ~slaps herself and goes back to packing suitcase for tomorrow~

Trees are awesome. Would you teach me to draw trees ?- want to draw a personal pic taking place in park but have issues with them. ^^;

~saves from drowning~ Have a cookie :cookie:

Heh, that could be a part of it too I feel-plus, I've yet to see legs not improved by wearing a pair of heals:XD:
I'm...iffy on heights, it's not the height it's self its the 'what happens when whatever I'm in/on ect. breaks and I fall' that gets me.
I think it'd be a whole nother thing, I'd be even more see through with wings-it'd be enough to all but read my mind...though-depending on what sort would impact fun aspect of it...I mean cause what sorta wings would people have? Birds have feathers, Bats have like...skin...though I kinda think we'd have wings similar to Bats, bigger though, even more so if we actaully had to use them to fly- the muscles needed for that-and the strength behind them...~slaps self with pillow and gets back to writing about her aliens~

BTW> Where you going if you don't mind me asking???

Heh, I can try:blush: I'm still working on my tree technique but sure I'll give it a go. I won't even try and ask you to teach me to draw Bots. Gah-I'm so anti technology for someone who lives online:XD: the whole digital art thing freaks me out-plus, I watched a friend fiddling with Photoshop one day and got scared

Don't mind - I'm going to East France (I live in west) to 1-visit my grandparents, especially my very sick grandpa, 2-bury my passed dog's ashes in the family house's garden [link] Not-happy Halloween holiday :'(

Naww! I'm sorry you're going for such a sad reason!
I know the close animal loss, in August I lost my first pony who'd been in my life for 14 years, which is the majority of my life.
(don't worry-I'm not some weedy 13yr old)

~Comes back from Snowy picture~ OMG he was 37 !!! Means he was already 23 when you took him in. Quite an age already. How did he arrive in your family ?
I'm back, and Nemo rests safe in the family's garden now...

^-^ I'm glad my internet age reflects higher then 13.

Yeah, we didn't even pick that until after he passed away, I was talking to my mum on the phone about it when she rang to tell me and during the conversation she was like-you know we've figured it out that he was about 36/37 becuase he was already 20 something when we got him.

I don't remember exactly but I don't think I can remember cleary a time before he was there, he was my first pony and the one I learnt properly on and all that goes along with 'my first pony'. I do remember we found out about him from my grade 1 teacher and she'd known and owned him at some point too-and she wasn't young per-say.

Its funny now when I realise how old he was and I think about some of the stuff he wnet through, I remember when I was 7ish we moved houses and our new house/farm happened to be in a valley that the airforce liked to use for practice for low level flying and so on with the fighter jets....they are loud.

And after about....5 or so times flying over almost all of our horses were completely fine-they freaked out more when they met the pigs^-^

Thank you. Commissionner wanted filigree added on Mirage's armor because of him belonging to Cybertronian aristocracy in her Alternate Bayverse. I didn't want the filigree to resemble Earthian motives because of Mirage being cybertronian, so after a printed circuitboard trial we decided for lightning-like fractal to use as a pattern (except on doorpanels - I couldn't give up on a previous elliptic fractal trial after seeing it matched the windows'shape so well ^^)

Oh wow... *totally did not stalk you here from LJ*

Are those winglets he has there? They look like maybe they can move independant of his torso, like dragonfly wings. Or are they attached at his upper arms? *very low resolution screen*

I assume you're talking about the white wing-shaped part partially hidden by the car's front ? they may look like winglets, but these are upper parts of the hood, which is rather V-shaped when viewed from above [link] . They're positioned on what would be our scapulae, and have strong but flexible attachs to make wide moves and transformation possible.

Glad you like :)

Actually I meant the pieces that hang down on either side of his body - they look a little like doors, but neither of the pics of the car have very visible doors to compare.

Of course, disregard me if I'm way off target - devart is not best viewed on a phone screen.

Ah yes these are the car's whole sides, doorpanels and bodywork together - you have better view here [link] I kept them as a whole because I wanted to give a cape-like effect as Mirage is supposed to have noble, knight-like manners (BTW doors open like this [link] )

Oh, excuse me *wipes up drool* damn that's a shiny car. (Only the best for 'Raj)

So do the cape pieces move at all?
Reply
:iconalteride:
alteride Featured By Owner Jun 25, 2011  Professional General Artist
yes but not at same level as a true cape. I assume Mirage would have some control on his doorpanels in robot mode, unlike us when it comes to floating tissues - he could move them aside or have them pivoting backwards, so he can sit or crouch without them getting in the way :)

Wing is coming along, I've decided for the ref silhouette, but have to adapt Wing and the ref to each other - hard to think Alex Milne even thought of Wing having a transform scheme when he designed him XP
